All About Team Dean!

We're glad you're here!

What are we waiting for? That question became the inspiration behind Living Our One Day.

We are preparing to leave behind the traditional routine and embrace a full-time RV lifestyle, traveling across the country in search of adventure, freedom, beautiful scenery, small towns, great food, unforgettable experiences, and a simpler way of living.

This journey is not about 'escaping' life; it is about fully living it. Along the way, we plan to share the real side of this adventure, offering RV travel tips (as we learn them) that encompass not just the perfect sunsets and scenic mountain views, but also the planning, the learning process, the unexpected detours, the challenges, the laughter, and the memories that come from stepping outside your comfort zone and trying something new.

We've spent decades building and operating businesses in the transportation industry. Together, we have focused most of our adult lives on work, family responsibilities, and building stability.

Now, we are intentionally creating space for experiences, connection, and adventure while we still can. And then there’s Rufus… Rufus is our tiny but very opinionated travel companion who already seems convinced this entire trip was planned specifically for him. You will probably be seeing a lot of him throughout our travels. Through this website, our YouTube channel, and social media pages, we hope to connect with others who dream about traveling, downsizing, simplifying life, or simply making more time for what truly matters. Whether you are already living the RV lifestyle, planning your own future adventure, or simply following along from home, we are grateful you are here. This is our reminder that life does not begin 'one day.' Our one day is now.

One thing that may surprise some people is that we are not longtime RV veterans.

In fact, before making the decision to pursue this lifestyle, our RV experience consisted of a single two-week Class A motorhome rental. What started as a simple vacation quickly became something much bigger. We fell in love with the freedom, the adventure, the constantly changing scenery, and the idea of experiencing more of the country while we still could.

That doesn't mean we have all the answers. Far from it.

Like many people considering this lifestyle, we are learning as we go. There will undoubtedly be wrong turns, unexpected challenges, lessons learned the hard way, and probably a few mistakes that will make for entertaining stories later. Rather than hide those moments, we plan to share them.

Part of the purpose of this website, our YouTube channel, and our social media pages is to document the real experience of transitioning into full-time RV life. If our successes inspire someone, that's wonderful. If our mistakes help someone avoid making the same ones, even better.

We're not experts. We're simply two people taking a leap into something new and inviting others to come along for the ride.

Our Philosphy

We believe life is measured less by the number of years we live and more by the experiences we collect along the way.

It is easy to become comfortable in familiar routines. We all tend to visit the same places, follow the same schedules, and see the same scenery day after day. There is nothing wrong with that, but we have learned that some of our most meaningful memories came from the moments when we tried something new, explored an unfamiliar place, or stepped outside our comfort zone.

That belief is one of the reasons we chose this journey.

By experiencing new places, meeting new people, and seeing the country through a constantly changing window, we hope to keep learning, growing, and appreciating the incredible diversity that surrounds us. We believe that curiosity keeps us engaged, new experiences keep us energized, and meaningful connections make life richer.

We are not traveling because we are searching for something missing. We are traveling because there is still so much left to see, learn, and experience.

For us, this journey is a reminder to stay curious, stay grateful, and never stop exploring.

After all, today's experiences become tomorrow's memories.

Our travel plans

One of the questions we hear most often is, "What's your route?"

The honest answer is: we don't really have one.

While we have a long list of places we'd love to visit, our goal is not to follow a rigid itinerary or race across the country checking destinations off a list. We intentionally designed this adventure to be flexible.

Some locations may keep us for a few days. Others may keep us for several weeks. If we discover a town we love, meet interesting people, find great hiking trails, or simply enjoy the view from our campsite, we'll stay longer. If we're ready for the next adventure, we'll move on.

Our travels will be guided by a few simple priorities:

Family and Friends

One of our biggest goals is reconnecting with family and friends throughout the country. Life gets busy, and it's easy to let years pass between visits. This journey gives us the opportunity to spend meaningful time with people we care about and create new memories together.

Following the Weather

After spending years dealing with schedules and obligations, we look forward to letting the seasons guide our travels. We plan to spend more time where the weather is comfortable and less time where it isn't. If we can avoid extreme heat, freezing temperatures, and snowstorms, that's a bonus.

Experiencing America

The United States is filled with incredible diversity. From mountains, deserts, forests, beaches, and lakes to small towns, major cities, historic sites, local restaurants, and hidden gems, we want to experience as much of it as possible.

Slowing Down

We have no desire to rush from place to place. Some of our favorite memories will likely come from the unexpected discoveries between destinations rather than the destinations themselves. We believe there is value in slowing down and truly experiencing a location instead of simply passing through it.

Maintaining Balance

Although we are embracing a new lifestyle, we are not disappearing from the world. We will continue operating our businesses remotely, staying connected with family and friends, and sharing our experiences through this website, YouTube channel, and social media.

Staying Flexible

The most important part of our plan is having the freedom to change it.

If we discover a beautiful campground, we'll stay. If friends invite us for dinner three states away, we might head there next. If an opportunity presents itself that wasn't on our radar, we'll follow it.

The destination isn't driving this journey.  The journey itself is the destination.
